Filtered Blending and Floating Textures: Ghosting-free Projective Texturing with Multiple Images
نویسندگان
چکیده
Whenever approximate 3D geometry is projectively texture-mapped from different directions simultaneously, annoyingly visible aliasing artifacts are the result. To prevent such ghosting in projective texturing and image-based rendering, we propose two different GPU-based rendering strategies: filtered blending and floating textures. Either approach is able to cope with imprecise 3D geometry as well as inexact camera calibration. Ghosting artifacts are effectively eliminated at real-time rendering frame rates on standard graphics hardware. With the proposed rendering techniques, better-quality rendering results are obtained from fewer images, coarser 3D geometry, and less accurately calibrated images. http://www.digibib.tu-bs.de/?docid=00020866 24/05/2007

Filtered Blending: A new, minimal Reconstruction Filter for Ghosting-Free Projective Texturing with Multiple Images
Whenever approximate 3D geometry is projectively texture-mapped from different directions simultaneously, annoyingly visible aliasing artifacts are the result. To prevent such ghosting in projective texturing and image-based rendering, we propose a new GPU-based rendering strategy and a new, viewdependent definition of ghosting. The algorithm is applicable to any kind of image-based rendering m...
متن کاملFloating Textures
We present a novel multi-view, projective texture mapping technique. While previous multi-view texturing approaches lead to blurring and ghosting artefacts if 3D geometry and/or camera calibration are imprecise, we propose a texturing algorithm that warps (“floats”) projected textures during run-time to preserve crisp, detailed texture appearance. Our GPU implementation achieves interactive to ...

متن کاملTexturing Composite Implicit Objects with Moving Parts
In this paper we present a method to apply two dimensional textures onto composite and articulated objects defined by implicit functions. The method generates a particle system associated to the gradient vector field of implicit functions to acquire texture coordinates at a support surface. By extending this method to composite objects, we prevent the appearence of ghosting effects at the blend...
متن کاملModulating View-dependent Textures
We present a texturing approach for image-based modeling and rendering, where instead of using one (or a blend of a few) sample images, new view dependent textures are synthesized by modulating a differential texture basis. The texture basis models the first order intensity variation due to image projection errors and parallax for a nonlinear projective camera. Experimentally we compare rendere...
